ubuntu6.06 thunderbirdの日本語化

sudo apt-get install mozilla-thunderbird mozilla-thunderbird-locale-ja

でインストールとようとすると、

パッケージ mozilla-thunderbird-locale-ja はデータベースには存在しますが、利用できません。おそらく、そのパッケージが見つからないか、もう古くなっているか、あるいは別のソースからのみしか利用できないという状況が考えられますE: パッケージmozilla-thunderbird-locale-ja にはインストール候補がありません

など言われてインストールできません。そこで、とりあえず本体だけインストールします。

sudo apt-get install mozilla-thunderbird

そして、
http://ftp.mozilla-japan.org/pub/mozilla-japan/thunderbird/development/1.5/から
thunderbird-1.5.ja.langpack-1.5.0.2.xpiをダウンロードして、「tools」-「extentios」からダウンロードしたファイルを指定してインストールします。インストール後 [Edit]-->[Preferences]-->[Advanced]-->[general]-->[configeditor] で開かれる about:config で general.useragent.locale を "ja" に変更します。本体は、1.5.0.4なのでバージョンは異なりますが一応うまくいってるっぽいです。
